Album introduction

IVE is back with the mini album [Looks Can Kill]. Since debut, IVE has renewed its language of confidence and conviction in its own way, and no longer stays in a single image. After the full album [REVIVE+] it strengthened its presence at home and abroad, and proved its standing again through its world tour. Built on that present, this mini album expands IVE's world in a bolder, more dimensional way.

The game is over the moment they appear: the birth of IVE's Girl Hero. [Looks Can Kill] starts from the concept of a hero who can deal a fatal blow just by existing. It carries on IVE's "Girl Fantasy" characters and, after Cupid and the magical girl, presents another ego, the "Girl Hero". The album spreads another side of IVE's world as a spin-off project.

The moment it becomes a fatal blow: "Looks Can Kill". The title track shows the identity of this album most directly. It portrays IVE as beings who settle the contest the moment they appear, overwhelming opponents and taking over the mood in one go, with IVE's confidence and initiative. The song opens with a catchy synth pad rhythm, then heavy bass, dynamic drums and rich electronic sound stack up to build strong drive. Where IVE once showed confidence and self-belief, this title track pushes that message further, turning even the moment of allure into a story IVE leads. The final chorus that explodes after the bridge decides the thrill of the song and shows most clearly what face and attitude IVE now uses to introduce itself again.

Six scenes, an album like one soundtrack. Each of the other tracks has a clear role. "Mirror Mirror" twists a fairy-tale motif into a dark, dreamy feel and widens the album's texture. "SNAKESKIN" carries a sense of transformation, shedding the fake to reveal the real self. "CRUMBS" shows a confident attitude of owning the beat over heavy bass and an intuitive rhythm. "Girls Girls Girls" refreshes the album's breathing with a free, open mood. "Glow Motion" softly extends the EP's afterglow with a dreamy, organic sound. Even though each track has a clear character, the whole flows naturally as one. From hard-driving tracks to ones that open the mood flexibly, [Looks Can Kill] does not lock itself into a single sound. What shows through them all is confidence, command and IVE's clear center.

A world expanded as a spin-off, completed as "Real HERO". The title track's music video borrows the grammar of hero films to spotlight IVE as superstars who play heroes and also have influence in real life. Directing that moves in and out of the film set uses their own image freely and boldly, and widens the meaning from "IVE playing heroes" to "IVE as heroes themselves". The album also focuses on the moment admiration for IVE turns into someone's dream and courage. It tells, in IVE's own hero story, how one person moves another and how that influence grows into new change. In the "CRUMBS" track video, the SPIN-OFF FILM, the fan "DIVE" goes on an imagined escape with IVE. Just as a hero in a film gives dreams and courage to people beyond the screen, IVE goes beyond the role to become someone who makes positive change in reality. The hero IVE speaks of is not someone who saves the world with special powers, but someone who gives dreams and courage and moves people forward.

An album beyond completion that makes you look forward to the next IVE. IVE has already proved plenty. It did not stay with the strong impression of its debut, but built its own position through hits, albums, performances and tours. IVE today cannot be explained by momentary buzz alone. It is closer to a team that knows its identity well and can expand it in the most popular language and the most sensory way. On that flow, [Looks Can Kill] does not repeat familiar strengths but unfolds IVE's confidence in more varied musical textures: strong hooks and speed, fantasy and self-love, liberation and transformation. It shows IVE is not a team with one formula for success, but one that keeps expanding and varying it. So this album explains IVE now and makes you more curious about IVE ahead. [Looks Can Kill] will show most clearly that IVE stands on that possibility.
